Oportunidades Vigentes

BIOTEC Visiting Fellowship Program

The National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), is one of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NSTDA) centers of Thailand, operating outside the normal framework of civil service and state enterprises. The Center support and transfer technology for the development of industry, agriculture, natural resources, environment and consequently the social and economic well-being of Thai people. The main objectives of BIOTEC are to induce dynamics in research, development and application of biotechnology in order to support technology development and adoption in both public and private institutions. This is achieved through establishing research programs, which include funding and program management, as well as establishing research laboratories in collaboration with universities and government agencies.

Visiting Fellowship Program invites scientists from around the globe ranging from those on sabbatical to senior scientists with the opportunity to work with research groups in BIOTEC in the focal areas of
BIOTEC’s research.

Vienna Biocenter PhD Program

The Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) is a basic biomedical research center sponsored largely by the pharmaceutical companyBoehringer Ingelheim, and located in the Campus Vienna Biocenter (VBC). The Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) and IMP together form the IMP-IMBA Research Center.

The aim of the VBC PhD Program is to provide one of the best scientific educations in Europe. With supervision provided by outstanding scientists, program students will answer important biological questions and work towards scientific independence throughout the course of their PhD thesis.

Research at the VBC covers a range of topics in modern biological sciences, including gene regulation, cell division, neural circuits, and evolutionary genomics. The VBC PhD programme supports its students in their scientific explorations, providing state-of-the-art equipment, expert scientific advisors, and extensive scientific and administrative support.
Data Limite:Summer Deadline: 30 April each year. Winter Deadline: 15 November each year.

Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences

The Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences is unique among peer institutions because it is integrated within a world-class medical center. The students work on the leading edge of biomedical research learning first hand how breakthroughs at the bench translate into new therapies for diseases.

Applications to the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences (WCGS) are accepted in seven
programs of study for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD):
2.       Cell Biology and Genetics;
4.       Molecular Biology;
5.       Neuroscience;
6.       Pharmacology;

Biomedical Ethics in Developing Countries Seminars and other Capacity-Building Initiatives

The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. Established in 1936 and with an endowment of around £10 billion, it is the UK’s largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research. The Medical Humanities Department promotes research and capacity building in Biomedical Ethics.

This scheme - Support for seminars and other capacity-building initiatives (developing countries) - provides support for seminars and similar initiatives that address the need to build capacity to conduct research into ethical issues arising in the development and delivery of healthcare in developing countries, or that involve scholarly discussion of ethical issues in biomedical science and healthcare in
developing or restructuring countries.
Data Limite: Applications can be made at any time but should be received at least six months before the proposed seminar date. Applicants will usually be notified of decision within two months.

CIHR's Fellowships 2010-2011

Immune Tolerance Network Funding & Support

The Immune Tolerance Network (ITN) is an international research collaboration that aims to accelerate the clinical development of tolerance therapies through novel clinical trials and parallel mechanistic studies. The ITN accepts applications for novel clinical trials from all interested scientists from academia, industry and government, in the areas of:
1. Islet Transplantation;
2. Kidney & Liver Transplantation;
3. Autoimmune Diseases;
4. Allergy & Asthma.
In addition, the ITN accepts applications for the development of novel tolerance assay or mechanistic studies, for the purposes of establishing new surrogate markers of immune tolerance and investigating the mechanisms of clinical tolerance. For example, the ITN will consider proposals that seek to better understand clinical tolerance by utilizing ITN tolerance assay resources in existing or planned clinical trials that are funded through other sources.

Data Limite: There is no deadline for submission of Concept Proposals - they are accepted throughout the year, with review cycles taking place several times per year.

Wood-Whelan Research Fellowships

The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, IUMBM, unites biochemists and molecular biologists in 77 countries that belong to the Union as an Adhering Body or Associate Adhering Body which is represented as a biochemical society, a national research council or an academy of sciences. The Union is devoted to promoting research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology throughout the world and gives particular attention to areas where the subject is still in its early development. The Wood-Whelan Research Fellowships are designed to support young biochemists and molecular biologists, from countries that are full or associate members of IUBMB who need to travel to other laboratories in the IUBMB region for the purpose of carrying out experiments that require special techniques or for other forms of scientific collaboration or advanced training.

Data Limite: Applications can be submitted at any time but they should reach the Committee Chairman at least two months before the intended visit to the host laboratory.
